I came across some easy and quick “do it yourself” tricks for around your home. I have been home more then usual lately with less money to throw around freely, so I save when I can. Here is a DIY recipe for aroma air freshener, facial mask, and lamp dimmer. Three easy simple things you can do to save money because I know you must have all ingredients and supplies in your home right now.

Warm & Soothing Aroma Air Freshener
What you will need:

  1. Small pot
  2. Water

  3. Cinnamon

  4. Orange peels

  5. Basil

Citrus Cinnamon Spice Aroma Air Freshener
What you do:

First fill the small pot with water about half way. Then add cinnamon, orange peels, and basil. Stir them up well and add more water if necessary. Wait until water is boiled on stove, then let the pot simmer with mixture inside. Soon your home will small like citrus cinnamon paradise and you saved money on the fancy, expensive air fresheners. Add more water and ingredients as needed until your home is freshened to your delight. Turn off fire on stove when satisfied with aroma and while unattended.

Sweet & Spice Facial Mask

What you will need:

Honey and cinnamon in small mixing bowl

  1. Honey
  • Cinnamon

  • Mixing bowl

  • What you do:

Me applying mixture on my face

Mix the honey and cinnamon powder in a bowl until the consistency is like a sticky gooey paste. Cleanse with your normal cleanser first. After rinsing and patting face (not completely dry but leaving it a little damp) with clean towel, apply Sweet & Spice face mix, evenly covering everything except for eyes and mouth. Let mask stay on face for 10-15 mins, then rinse off with warm water. Do this 3 times a week for smoother more even skin tone and save money on expensive scrubs.

    Lamp Dimmer

    What you will need:

    1. Lamp
    2. Sheer scarf

    What you do:

Drape scarf over lamp shade, then tie scarf around to secure. The way you tie the scarf will be different depending on the style of lamp, so just be creative with it and have fun. I have a tall skinny black lamp with the lamp shade pointing up not down like more traditional styles. I draped my scarf, tied it around the bottom skinny portion of the lamp then made a knot to secure. This instantly creates a dimmer atmosphere to any room without the installation of a dimmer light switch, so you save money again. Just make sure to watch the heat on the material scarf, if it feels too hot turn lamp off until it cools again. Then you may turn lamp back on.
