Always Count Your Blessings

The entire world seems to be turned upside down by fear over the past few weeks from this coronavirus scare. Many people might be questioning God’s existence or cursing Him for letting the human race spine into chaos. But I say to you do not blame God it is not His fault. If you want to blame anyone it is ourselves who are responsible for chaos here on earth. We are the reason why things go wrong! God isn’t he loves us all and He wants to see us thrive and praise Him.

Instead of being fearful or angry at God let’s praise Him even more at a time like this and remember to be grateful for what you do have. Let us all counting our blessings today.

1. Blessed to be ALIVE!

If you are alive today then that is a huge gift and a blessing from God! Thank you, Jesus, for my life!

rooted and builded up in him, and established in your faith, even as ye were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭ASV‬‬

2. Blessed to have FAMILY & friends!

If you have family and friends in your life you are so blessed! Thank you, Jesus, for ALL my family and friends. Please protect them in their time of need and keep them safe and healthy. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
‭‭3 John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭ASV‬‬

3. Blessed to have a JOB.

You are blessed if you still have your job or any source of income to take care of your financial expenses. Thank you, Jesus, for always providing for me with everything I need to survive!

“And God is able to make all grace abound unto you; that ye, having always all sufficiency in everything, may abound unto every good work:”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:8‬ ‭ASV‬‬

4. Blessed to have a place to SLEEP.

You are so blessed if you have a warm safe place to rest your head at night. Especially if you have a warm big comfy bed or even a nice couch. Many people don’t even have that so if you do be grateful and thank Jesus for that each and every day! Thank you, Jesus, for providing me with a warm comfy place to rest my head at night!

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭ASV‬‬

5. Blessed to have clean WATER to drink and good FOOD to eat.

You are so blessed if you have clean, fresh water to drink every day. If you have good food to eat that is warm and delicious then WOW that is so great! There are countless people throughout the world that aren’t as blessed as you right now. Always remember to give thanks to God! Thank you, Jesus, for food in my belly and water to quench my thirst.

I will give thanks unto Jehovah according to his righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of Jehovah Most High.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭7:17‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Even though it may be hard to give thanks when things may not be as good right now because of the coronavirus. If you have even one of these things that I mentioned above you are so blessed right now! A thankful heart is what God truly loves to hear and see from his children. Give thanks to Jesus always in prayer and action.

May God bless you all!

Spirit

God’s Spirit shines the world with a great big light.

People walking around in darkness cold as the Black night.

Jesus shows US how to be humble and walk in the sand.

He preformed many miracles in poor crippled people across the land.

The Bible says God created the earth in seven days.

He knew exactly how to make the world and man in amaze.

The power comes from the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

You can only know God and worship Him when your near it.

The Story of Ash Wednesday & Lent

What is the real story about Ash Wednesday? Is it a tradition that man decided to make to observe the beginning of Lent? Is it something Jesus taught about in the Bible? I was extremely curious about what “Ash Wednesday” really is because growing up as a Catholic my family and I always observed by getting ashes on the forehead with a sign of the cross then we would give something up we truly loved for the 40 day Lental period. However I never really understood what this symbolism met nor cared enough to dig deeper into the meaning. Well, now I’m all grown-up and starting to questions about these “traditions” that were instilled in me as a young child by the Roman Catholic Church and family members.

I decided to do my research and this is what I came up with: Ash Wednesday or Lent was not observed in the early New Testament days. Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent started to be observed by Western Christian Churches and other denominations like Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran Churches. Most of these churches did the cross on the forehead to symbolize penance or the death/ sorrow of sins. It was also customary to give up something you “love” to do for those 40 days of Lent or to give back in some way to society. My family and I would normally give up some sort of food we loved or bad habit for those 40 days, while not eating meat on Fridays. It is also suggested that “Lent” may be connected to early pagan holidays, such as the pagan god called Tammuz.

Ash Wednesday and Lent is a nonbiblical observation even though some people do connect it with the 40 days in the desert that Jesus was visited by Satan and Satan tried to tempt him with ZERO success. See the story of this below: from the Gospel of Matthew:

‘Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him; and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ – Matthew 3:13-17

‘Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered. And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and he said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him. ‘ – Matthew 4:1-11

In conclusion, it is fine to observe this holiday if you would like however keep in mind this is not what Jesus taught us and as a “born again” Christian this is not observed in most Evangelical Christian Churches. My take on Lent is trying to mix some of the good traditions of Lent such as giving up something bad for you in hopes of not indulging in this unhealthy food item or bad habit for good! While remembering that Jesus got baptized by John the Baptiste in the Bible then he when away in the desert He didn’t eat nor drink for 40 days while Satan tried to tempt Him. Of course, we all know that Satan was unsuccessful in doing so which makes Jesus perfect in every way! This just gives me more inspiration to try to be like Jesus more and more each day.

God bless you all on the start of making yourself more like Jesus!

God is NOT Disappointed in YOU He has HOPE

Do you sometimes feel ashamed and think God is disappointed in you? Do you try to hide from Him and shy away from prayer? Well, we all have done and felt this way in our lives but the good news is YOU DON’T HAVE TO!! God knows exactly what you will do before you do it. He knows exactly what you will say before you say it. He knows exactly what you are thinking before you think it. I know this is amazing stuff but don’t be surprised because God can do it all! He is God for a reason, right?

Joyce Meyers reminded me of this in her daily devotional from the bible plan: Promises for Your Everyday Life. See below:

Do you ever feel like God is disappointed with you? I used to feel this way until one day He said, “You know, Joyce, you’re no surprise to Me. I knew what I was getting when I got you.”

Think about it! God knows the end from the beginning, and all the days of our life are written in His book. Every decision we’re ever going to make, good or bad, God already knew them before we ever showed up on planet earth. He already knows today every word in our mouth that is still unuttered, even what we’re going to say a year from now.

Sometimes we go around thinking that God is so disappointed with us all the time. It’s true that we make mistakes. And we’re not supposed to be lighthearted about them, we need to take them seriously. But in spite of our mistakes, God has hope for us and knows that He can change us if we’ll stay close to Him.

God’s not disappointed. He’s full of hope where we’re concerned! He believes in us more than we do ourselves.

Prayer Starter: Lord, Your hope for me is so encouraging and inspiring. Even when I don’t believe in myself, I know that You do, and that gives me the strength to overcome my mistakes and follow You.

‘Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. ‘ Jeremiah 1:5

Jesus is always here to help us and guide every step of the way even if we keep messing up over and over again. The next time you feel shame or disappointment and you feel like hiding from God. DON’T! Tell Satan he is a liar and that you are God’s child. Pray on this over and over! Ask God for his help He will never let you down.

Please share a time in your life where God was there for you even when you didn’t deserve it. Share in the comments below.

God bless you all!

Financial Help from the Big Guy Upstairs

Are you struggling with your finances and anything you try to get above water doesn’t seem to work out? Do you need a change for the new year? Have you ever tried to STOP worrying and stressing out and give it up to God? If you answered “Yes” to the first two questions and “Uh” or “No” to the third question then continue to read.

We all have struggled with finances one or several times in our lives but when you try to do things YOUR WAY instead of GOD’S WAY things always seem to fall apart. Well, I got the answer I was seeking in this daily devotional by Joyce Meyer called Promises for your Everyday Life. See the extremely simply advice she gives about doing finances the way God had intended:

Some put money or the world’s system of commerce before God. But the Bible states in Revelation 18 that if we put our trust in money, it’s going to fail. I’ve found that the way to deal with money, instead of struggling with it, is to try and out-give God…because we can’t.

The more we give away, the more we’ll receive. The more we obey Him with our finances, the more He blesses us. The more we do for other people, the more God has other people do for us.

Society tells us to invest everything in the world’s system and work all the time to make more money. But if we do, we’ll really never have anything that matters, especially joy. And we won’t be able to enjoy the money we have because we won’t be using it God’s way.

It may not make sense according to the world’s system, but God doesn’t want you to simply make money and hoard it away. God says that by giving it away, you will have more in the end. I challenge you to increase your generosity today. Trust me, you can’t out-give God.

Prayer Starter: God, Your plan for my finances isn’t like the world’s, but I know that when I give the way You tell me to, You will take care of me. My money is Yours and I will use it as You see fit.

‘ Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. ‘ Luke 6:38

Let’s try to handle our finances God’s way in 2020 even if you have never thought of this concept before (me included). This is not going to be easy to do at first especially if your a control freak but in the end doing it OUR WAY doesn’t work for God.

Please share your financial story in the comments below and how you plan to handle them better this year than last year?

May God bless you all!

Let’s put “Christ” back in Christmas

Let’s put Jesus Christ back in the holiday season.

Because he is the way, the truth, and the life! The only reason!

Let’s put Jesus back into our lost hearts.

Before it is too late and you are forever marked.

Let’s put “giving” instead of “taking” back into what’s trending,

Let’s stop all this unnecessary spending.

The rich can’t inherit what is the poor’s,

Because where Jesus reigns that ticket can not be bought.

Let’s put “Christ” back into Christmas and teach our children to do the same.

Let us stop trying to seek riches and fame.

Remember this!

Jesus is the only one who saves!

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭ASV‬‬
