Get Happy! It’s Good for You :)

Lately it’s been difficult for me to stay happy. A lot of family issues have rose and I have been feeling more anger and frustration with things more then ever. I won’t get into what situations they are because I want to protect the privacy of my family members during some really difficult and heartbreaking times. All I will share is we have experienced a couple of deaths in the family lately as well as unresolved issues with siblings. Both are literally making me feel like I have no control and things will not get better anytime soon.

I know what you are thinking if you know me and read my blog posts. How is a child of God feeling this way? Aren’t they suppose to be joyous and happy because they understand the plans God has in store for them? Aren’t Christian’s suppose to be happy no matter what life throws their way because they have Jesus on their side? Well the truth is being a Christian doesn’t shield you from the pain and tragedy of life. We go through it just like everyone else. (…”so that you may [show yourselves to] be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on those who are evil and on those who are good, and makes the rain fall on the righteous [those who are morally upright] and the unrighteous [the unrepentant, those who oppose Him].”) Matthew 5:45 AMP. The meaning of this scripture in the Bible when Jesus preached to his disciples is it doesn’t matter if you do good or not or believe in Him or not you will have trouble in this world because this world is ruled by the enemy. In short bad things are going to happen that’s life here on earth and their is basically nothing you can do about it, WRONG!

Matthew 5:45 AMP

If you feel helpless, sad, angry, or frustrated for any reason give it up to Jesus. He will help you through any struggle you might be facing, even if you don’t feel like praying do it. This is what I tell myself everyday. (““ Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.”) Matthew 7:7 AMP . God loves it when we come to Him with our troubles because He is here to help us.

Matthew 7:7 AMP

Get happy and find the joy whatever struggle you are going through today. I have NEVER stopped praying even when I don’t feel like it. ( Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.) 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Happiness comes from God just like all of the other good things we feel because God is ONLY good and righteous. If we seek God we are seeking happiness and love. God is the purest form of unconditional love. (9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”) Joshua 1:9. He wants us to succeed in everything we do because we are His children and He loves us like the best Father you have ever had. When people disappoint us in this life God will be there. When we go through struggles of loose and death He is there to comfortable us if you allow Him.

Joshua 1:9

I will seek happiness even in struggling times and reach out to others who may need my help or just a listening ear. We are put on this earth to be there for other people just like God is always there for us. If your are struggling with finding the happiness and joy especially during a difficult season of your life, just STOP trying to fix things on your own and give it up to JESUS. Don’t let the enemy win! (But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.]”) 1 Peter 5:9 AMP.

1 Peter 5:9 AMP

Easter Sunday

Easter time is almost here!

It’s time to laugh, jump, feel joy, and cheer!

When the day has come they all shall say:

“Praise the Lord, Alleluia! He has risen today!”

Savoring the time we spend with family and friends.

Waiting for the special helper that Jesus the Messiah will send.

Easter Sunday is a time to celebrate and be glad.

It’s definitely not a time to mope around and be sad.

He was killed, died, then rose on the third day.

Christians and Catholics observe this as Easter Sunday.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Always Count Your Blessings

The entire world seems to be turned upside down by fear over the past few weeks from this coronavirus scare. Many people might be questioning God’s existence or cursing Him for letting the human race spine into chaos. But I say to you do not blame God it is not His fault. If you want to blame anyone it is ourselves who are responsible for chaos here on earth. We are the reason why things go wrong! God isn’t he loves us all and He wants to see us thrive and praise Him.

Instead of being fearful or angry at God let’s praise Him even more at a time like this and remember to be grateful for what you do have. Let us all counting our blessings today.

1. Blessed to be ALIVE!

If you are alive today then that is a huge gift and a blessing from God! Thank you, Jesus, for my life!

rooted and builded up in him, and established in your faith, even as ye were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭ASV‬‬

2. Blessed to have FAMILY & friends!

If you have family and friends in your life you are so blessed! Thank you, Jesus, for ALL my family and friends. Please protect them in their time of need and keep them safe and healthy. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
‭‭3 John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭ASV‬‬

3. Blessed to have a JOB.

You are blessed if you still have your job or any source of income to take care of your financial expenses. Thank you, Jesus, for always providing for me with everything I need to survive!

“And God is able to make all grace abound unto you; that ye, having always all sufficiency in everything, may abound unto every good work:”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:8‬ ‭ASV‬‬

4. Blessed to have a place to SLEEP.

You are so blessed if you have a warm safe place to rest your head at night. Especially if you have a warm big comfy bed or even a nice couch. Many people don’t even have that so if you do be grateful and thank Jesus for that each and every day! Thank you, Jesus, for providing me with a warm comfy place to rest my head at night!

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭ASV‬‬

5. Blessed to have clean WATER to drink and good FOOD to eat.

You are so blessed if you have clean, fresh water to drink every day. If you have good food to eat that is warm and delicious then WOW that is so great! There are countless people throughout the world that aren’t as blessed as you right now. Always remember to give thanks to God! Thank you, Jesus, for food in my belly and water to quench my thirst.

I will give thanks unto Jehovah according to his righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of Jehovah Most High.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭7:17‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Even though it may be hard to give thanks when things may not be as good right now because of the coronavirus. If you have even one of these things that I mentioned above you are so blessed right now! A thankful heart is what God truly loves to hear and see from his children. Give thanks to Jesus always in prayer and action.

May God bless you all!

The Story of Ash Wednesday & Lent

What is the real story about Ash Wednesday? Is it a tradition that man decided to make to observe the beginning of Lent? Is it something Jesus taught about in the Bible? I was extremely curious about what “Ash Wednesday” really is because growing up as a Catholic my family and I always observed by getting ashes on the forehead with a sign of the cross then we would give something up we truly loved for the 40 day Lental period. However I never really understood what this symbolism met nor cared enough to dig deeper into the meaning. Well, now I’m all grown-up and starting to questions about these “traditions” that were instilled in me as a young child by the Roman Catholic Church and family members.

I decided to do my research and this is what I came up with: Ash Wednesday or Lent was not observed in the early New Testament days. Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent started to be observed by Western Christian Churches and other denominations like Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran Churches. Most of these churches did the cross on the forehead to symbolize penance or the death/ sorrow of sins. It was also customary to give up something you “love” to do for those 40 days of Lent or to give back in some way to society. My family and I would normally give up some sort of food we loved or bad habit for those 40 days, while not eating meat on Fridays. It is also suggested that “Lent” may be connected to early pagan holidays, such as the pagan god called Tammuz.

Ash Wednesday and Lent is a nonbiblical observation even though some people do connect it with the 40 days in the desert that Jesus was visited by Satan and Satan tried to tempt him with ZERO success. See the story of this below: from the Gospel of Matthew:

‘Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him; and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ – Matthew 3:13-17

‘Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered. And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and he said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him. ‘ – Matthew 4:1-11

In conclusion, it is fine to observe this holiday if you would like however keep in mind this is not what Jesus taught us and as a “born again” Christian this is not observed in most Evangelical Christian Churches. My take on Lent is trying to mix some of the good traditions of Lent such as giving up something bad for you in hopes of not indulging in this unhealthy food item or bad habit for good! While remembering that Jesus got baptized by John the Baptiste in the Bible then he when away in the desert He didn’t eat nor drink for 40 days while Satan tried to tempt Him. Of course, we all know that Satan was unsuccessful in doing so which makes Jesus perfect in every way! This just gives me more inspiration to try to be like Jesus more and more each day.

God bless you all on the start of making yourself more like Jesus!

God is NOT Disappointed in YOU He has HOPE

Do you sometimes feel ashamed and think God is disappointed in you? Do you try to hide from Him and shy away from prayer? Well, we all have done and felt this way in our lives but the good news is YOU DON’T HAVE TO!! God knows exactly what you will do before you do it. He knows exactly what you will say before you say it. He knows exactly what you are thinking before you think it. I know this is amazing stuff but don’t be surprised because God can do it all! He is God for a reason, right?

Joyce Meyers reminded me of this in her daily devotional from the bible plan: Promises for Your Everyday Life. See below:

Do you ever feel like God is disappointed with you? I used to feel this way until one day He said, “You know, Joyce, you’re no surprise to Me. I knew what I was getting when I got you.”

Think about it! God knows the end from the beginning, and all the days of our life are written in His book. Every decision we’re ever going to make, good or bad, God already knew them before we ever showed up on planet earth. He already knows today every word in our mouth that is still unuttered, even what we’re going to say a year from now.

Sometimes we go around thinking that God is so disappointed with us all the time. It’s true that we make mistakes. And we’re not supposed to be lighthearted about them, we need to take them seriously. But in spite of our mistakes, God has hope for us and knows that He can change us if we’ll stay close to Him.

God’s not disappointed. He’s full of hope where we’re concerned! He believes in us more than we do ourselves.

Prayer Starter: Lord, Your hope for me is so encouraging and inspiring. Even when I don’t believe in myself, I know that You do, and that gives me the strength to overcome my mistakes and follow You.

‘Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. ‘ Jeremiah 1:5

Jesus is always here to help us and guide every step of the way even if we keep messing up over and over again. The next time you feel shame or disappointment and you feel like hiding from God. DON’T! Tell Satan he is a liar and that you are God’s child. Pray on this over and over! Ask God for his help He will never let you down.

Please share a time in your life where God was there for you even when you didn’t deserve it. Share in the comments below.

God bless you all!

Keep your eyes on…

Jesus!

“Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭ASV‬‬

May God bless you! 🙏🏻
