Always Count Your Blessings

The entire world seems to be turned upside down by fear over the past few weeks from this coronavirus scare. Many people might be questioning God’s existence or cursing Him for letting the human race spine into chaos. But I say to you do not blame God it is not His fault. If you want to blame anyone it is ourselves who are responsible for chaos here on earth. We are the reason why things go wrong! God isn’t he loves us all and He wants to see us thrive and praise Him.

Instead of being fearful or angry at God let’s praise Him even more at a time like this and remember to be grateful for what you do have. Let us all counting our blessings today.

1. Blessed to be ALIVE!

If you are alive today then that is a huge gift and a blessing from God! Thank you, Jesus, for my life!

2. Blessed to have FAMILY & friends!

3. Blessed to have a JOB.

You are blessed if you still have your job or any source of income to take care of your financial expenses. Thank you, Jesus, for always providing for me with everything I need to survive!

4. Blessed to have a place to SLEEP.

You are so blessed if you have a warm safe place to rest your head at night. Especially if you have a warm big comfy bed or even a nice couch. Many people don’t even have that so if you do be grateful and thank Jesus for that each and every day! Thank you, Jesus, for providing me with a warm comfy place to rest my head at night!

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

5. Blessed to have clean WATER to drink and good FOOD to eat.

You are so blessed if you have clean, fresh water to drink every day. If you have good food to eat that is warm and delicious then WOW that is so great! There are countless people throughout the world that aren’t as blessed as you right now. Always remember to give thanks to God! Thank you, Jesus, for food in my belly and water to quench my thirst.

I will give thanks unto Jehovah according to his righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of Jehovah Most High.”

Even though it may be hard to give thanks when things may not be as good right now because of the coronavirus. If you have even one of these things that I mentioned above you are so blessed right now! A thankful heart is what God truly loves to hear and see from his children. Give thanks to Jesus always in prayer and action.

7 Ways to Stay Safe & Sane, During Coronavirus Scare

Do you feel like this world has gone completely crazy? Are you afraid of the coronavirus? Do you know how to tell the difference between FACTS and MYTHS, RATIONAL and IRRATIONAL thinking at a time like this? If you are unsure about things maybe I can clear that up for you, so you and your family/ friends/ neighbors can ALL stay safe, sane, and most of all HEALTHY.

  1. Do not FEAR. 

Being afraid of something like this will not make you feel any better or help you stay healthy. Fear actually does the opposite of keeping you safe and healthy it can cause your immune system to decline which can leave you a lot more vulnerable. This may seem scary to you especially with all the news reports and social media posts that tell you that you should be afraid. Always remember whatever happens you are NEVER in control God is and He will protect you. Just have FAITH and never FEAR.

‘Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. ‘ Isaiah 35:4

  1. Pray

Prayer is the most powerful act you can do especially at a time like this. Pray to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Through Him anything is possible. If you don’t believe me read the gospel of John in the Bible. This is the best way to get to know Jesus and to understand who God really is. Remember to pray for understanding and God will reveal wonders to you with faith and patience through the Holy Spirit. Pray for yourself, family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. You can literally pray for whoever you want whenever you want. God will hear you and answer plus give you strength during these difficult times.

‘Rejoice always; in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward. ‘ 1 Thessalonians 5:16,18 

  1. Stay home if you feel SICK.

Like any other virus that is contagious, it is best to stay home and away from other people if you feel sick. Do not go to places that have crowds of people. Avoid people that may be more vulnerable like the elderly, people with preexisting health conditions, and small children. If you feel like you are sick don’t panic just get to a doctor so you can get the help that you need.

Is any among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him. ‘ James 5:14-15

  1. Avoid CROWDED places.

Try not to put yourself in a closed, confined place with a lot of people. Depending on where you live in the world I’m sure most of these crowded places to avoid were closed by your city or state. Just in case try to avoid restaurants/ bars, schools, large office spaces, museums, parks, etc. Just use common sense here if there is a place with a lot of people try to not put yourself in that situation. Some people, unfortunately, do go out if they are sick or aren’t aware that they are sick so to stay SAFE and SANE just stay clear for now until things get better with this virus.

‘Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them: for Jehovah thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. ‘ Deuteronomy 31:6 

  1. Avoid touching your face especially EYES, NOSE, and MOUTH.

Try to work on being conscious of where you put your hands and avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. In this busy world, we live in it is often hard to think about not touching your face with dirty hands that touched multiple surfaces. Instead of having your mind wonder try to be in the present moment and pay attention to where your hands may go. If you feel this is impossible for you to remember then wear gloves as protection when you go out to a public place.

  1. Help others who are in NEED.

I know the thought of being around others right now might make you cringe especially if you’re a fearful germaphobe, however it is our duty as humans especially if you are a Christian to help others before you help yourself. If you are a healthy and able person check on your elderly neighbor next door. He/she might need some items from the grocery store. If you are fortunate enough to stay home from work with pay then someone might need a babysitter since most schools are closed for now. Pick up extra disinfectant and/or hand sanitizer and give it out to people that may need it. Don’t be afraid to help others this is the time to do it. God will be very pleased indeed.

‘give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again. ‘Luke 6:38

  1. Cover your NOSE & MOUTH, then WASH your HANDS. 

More common sense stuff that you probably learned as a kid yet it is easy to forget. When you cough or sneeze cover your mouth with your arm or hands especially when around surfaces and/or people. Then remember to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20-30 seconds. Also, carry some antibacterial or hand sanitizer with you just in case soap and water aren’t accessible at the time. If you are in a part of the world that hand sanitizer is in shortage HERE is a way to make it at home.

Just to make things perfectly CLEAR I’m not a doctor, nurse, nor do I work in the medical field. This is just my opinion on ways to stay SAFE and SANE in this coronavirus epidemic while incorporating some much-needed help from God through His word. Remember you can be a regular person like ME and still know how to exercise common sense mixed in with faith and prayer.

Jesus Does Speak to Us if We Listen

When we can hear the voice of Jesus through scripture it’s an amazing and powerful thing! It comes at a time where you need it the most and knocks you back into truth and wisdom.
My time that I finally spoke to Jesus sincerely and with desperation was when my Dad had a massive heart attack and I knew I wasn’t ready for him to go. At the time I was unemployed, living back with Mom and had actually called my Dad to ask for some money because my Mom was short on the bills. After I was done asking him over the phone he said, “Sure, but you will have to come to the hospital I had a heart attack earlier”. I immediately was overcome with guilt and sadness, then panic as I rushed out the door to Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.
All I can think in my head of how selfish I was being for asking for money when my Dad was lying in a hospital a few days after he was suppose to go on vacation to the Bahamas, which his wife and him usually does around the holidays. This happened around Easter of 2018 and it scared my whole family half to death!
I remember crying and praying the whole time for my Dad to recover and be OK. This is the first time I cried out Jesus’ name to save and help my Father and he did answer my prayers and my Dad did recover from it all! He is out of the hospital now for several months after a few months of in and out combined with surgeries. The doctors expressed to me in a private conversation that my Dad was extremely lucky to be alive and he is a very strong man who really loves his daughters. I was immediately overcome with joy and love and I knew Jesus had conducted a miracle through my faith and prayers.
That miracle of a second chance for my Father and for this family put me on a journey to get the know Him. I have known about Him my whole life but I never formed a strong relationship with Jesus before but he still loved me and my family enough to help us! This is definitely a God who I want to love back and I do.

And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him.”

Deliciously Easy Anytime Smoothies

Banana Guava Burst
Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 banana
  2. 1 frozen clementine (with or without skin)

  3. A hand full of frozen spinach 

  4. A thin small slice of fresh ginger

  5. A tablespoon of raw honey 

  6. 1 guava flavored yogurt (I used La Yogurt)

  7. 1/2 cup of milk

  8. Ice (depending on how thick you want the smoothie).


Blend all ingredients in a blender for several seconds, depending on how thick or creamy you want the smoothie to be. I like mine thick and creamy because I like to drink them as a meal or a satisfying snack in between meals. Taste the smoothie with a spoon as you blend so you know what ingredient to add more of depending on your taste. The primary flavor components in my smoothie were citrus, ginger, and banana. Serve in a chilled glass or mason jar, enjoy. 


Coconut Banana Blast

Ingredients:

  1. 1 frozen banana
  • Chocolate syrup 

  • 2 tablespoons crunchy all natural peanut butter

  • Frozen coconut milk ice chunks 

  • 1 cup milk

  • Ice 


  • Blend all ingredients in blender for several seconds. Serve in chilled glass or mason jar and enjoy. This one is great for a snack or dessert. 


    Peanut Butter Honey Cocoa Twist

    Ingredients:

    1. 2 frozen blackberries

    2.A packet of hot chocolate mix

    1. 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • Chocolate syrup 

  • 1 1/2 cups milk

  • Tablespoon of raw honey

  • Chunks of frozen coconut milk 

  • A small piece of fresh ginger 

  • Ice 


  • First add a chunk of ice, then honey. Next add the packet of coco mix (I used rich and creamy Nestles). Then the peanut butter, ginger, and milk. Blend for several seconds, then add more ice, chocolate syrup, and berries. Blend again for a few more seconds. Prepare glass by swirling and twisting in more chocolate syrup inside the chilled glass. Pour smoothie in glass and enjoy. Make a swirl on top of the glass with the chocolate syrup too. 


    Try these simple smoothie recipes for yourself and your family/ friends. Add or subtract what you like, play with the ingredient make it your own. These are all my original recipes that I combined. Extremely simple and delicious, have fun and please share your experience.

    Breakfast for Champs

    Being a young woman from one of the most trendy cities in the country right now, Brooklyn, N.Y. It is super tough to stay afloat financially plus satisfying you tastebuds as well. So I came up with my “Breakfast for Champs” which means basically whatever little food I had in the fridge and kitchen cabinets. 


    This is what I made to energize my body while awaking my tastebuds. 

    Peanut Butter & Banana Shake

    1. 2 tablespoons Natural peanut butter 
    2. 1 1/2 bananas

    3. Crushed ice

    4. 8-12oz. Milk or almond milk


    Milo my cat loves to help in the clean.


    Mix all ingredients into blender until consistency is smooth and creamy.


    Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!


    If you are still hungry or you can also have this for lunch, here is another quick and easy meal to make. I call it….

    Egg in the Hole

    1. A large egg
  • A slice of bread (I had potato or wheat)

  • Butter 

  • Salt & pepper

  • Ketchup packet 

  • So first you heat butter in a pan in the stove for several seconds until butter is melted on hot pan. Then you prepare bread slice by cutting hole in the middle. Place on hot buttery pan with hole exposed and hole piece on pan next to holy bread slice. Crack egg in middle of bread slice and cook on low flame.


    Then flip over depending on how you usually like you egg cooked. I like my egg cooked medium with yolk slightly running which taste better with the buttery grilled bread. Yum!!


    After done cooking to your desire. Place on plate with spachler and top off with sea salt, pepper, and ketchup. Enjoy!


    Please share your “the struggle is real” breakfast for champs meals and recipes. I can use some fun and creative ideas. We poor professionals need to stick together and help each other. Stay creative and delicious.

    Shake in the Morning or in the Evening

    Hey everyone! So I got to try the other two Shakeology favors that I won for free on Facebook. I already tried and gave my honest opinion on how easy it is to make and how delicious it taste, “My Package Has Arrived“. Check it out to refresh your memory. The first shake was so tasty plus very healthy for you and filling enough to be a meal replacement if you are trying to shed those extra inches before bikini season. The other two shakes green berry and strawberry banana were just as good. 


    I am a little surprised on how good the shakes come out and how easy they are to make, especially with me. I have no talent in the kitchen what so ever but I do try to make fun and easy things. I blogged about one meal I attempted that came out delish


    Directions & Ingredients

    1. Shakeology package, 8-12oz. Of water or milk (I use almond milk), and ice.

    1. Mix all ingredients in blender to desired consistency. 

    1. Pour and enjoy.

    But seriously the shakes are yummy and my favorite one out of all three has to be the green berry (which I was most skeptical about its taste). It’s green color is so pretty and that shake came out the creamiest of all. It taste exactly how the name sounds too, green berries!

     The strawberry banana was delicious too and the color was a pretty light pink. All three shakes consistencies was creamy and icy at the same time which probably has to do with my ice and almond milk combo when I mixed it, recommended by the beach body representative that mailed me the shakes Andrea Newhall

    The Conclusion of my Shakelogy taste and make test is graded an A! I would definitely reach out to Andrea and Beach Body to get some for myself. They are so easy to make and take about two minutes and gives you the energy you need to start your day plus sweet and delicious enough to have as a treat after a long day. I had the chocolate shake has a healthy after dinner snack, the strawberry banana for breakfast, and the green berry shake for lunch. I split them up in different days because I only had three favors, but once I get more I would probably have one for breakfast everyday and maybe another as a not guilty treat for the end of my day. 

    My cat Milo jumped up on my kitchen counter and  took a little taste when I wasn’t looking. This shake is not for cats but it was too cute not to capture. He loves helping me in the kitchen while being a curious little cat.

    My Package Has Arrived

    I got my free package from the random drawing I won on Facebook promoting the Beach Body fitness programs. Check out my previous post, “I Won, I Won” to refresh your memory. Andrea Newhall one of the Beach Body representatives selected my name from one of her drawings and mailed me my free gift which I just received.


    I am super excited to rip this package open and try one of these delicious health shakes Andrea was raving about. I got three favors, green berry, strawberry banana, and chocolate. 


    I love chocolate so I will make that one first. Seems simple enough to make, just follow the instructions on the back of the package. 


    Directions:

    Mix shakeology package, 6oz-12oz of water or almond milk, and ice in a blender. Mix to desired consistency.

    Mine come out a little messy because I forgot to tighten the blade to the pitcher so the bottom leaked out a little bit haha. Anyway I hope you like my raw attempt to capture some step by step videos of me making the shake. In my own kitchen straight out  of Brooklyn with my iPhone 6s. The blender is a retro off white that I got from my dad when I moved into my first place in Dyker Heights. Just goes to show you that stainless steel appliances may look better on video but retro white gives a little extra charm. I poured the shake in my Dad’s old beer mug which I stole from my mom, popped a straw in it and done. 


    Now I am ready to enjoy my delicious Shakeology chocolate shake. I can’t wait to try the other two favors so I can let you know my favorite one. So far this chocolate one was pretty tasty and there was enough for me to have one for dessert and have a breakfast shake in the morning.
